Areas of Practice

  • We are proud to say that we do a very heavy concentration of residential Real Estate, representing many clients in buying and selling homes. The single most expensive transaction a person can make in their lifetime is buying/selling their home. This requires the expert advice and counseling of an experienced attorney. We make it our priority to work together as a team with our client, Realtor, mortgage company and title company, keeping everyone informed of the closing process and it’s status. Our goal is to “always manage expectations” so everyone on the team is on the same page.

Within 24 hours of receiving a Contract, our attorney review letter is sent to everyone and our engagement packet is sent our client explaining every phase of the closing process in great detail. The process of buying or selling can be overwhelming and our client packet is extremely informative and a “road map” for the client. We assist and advise our clients during attorney review, inspections, the mortgage process, explaining any possible title issues and ultimately getting to the closing table. We are very accessible to our team at any point in the transaction, and do our best to make this a favorable experience for our client.

In addition, we are experienced in commercial Real Estate purchases and sales, and represent several builders, developers, and investors in this process. These matters involve a more seasoned and specialized role as counsel to our clients, especially multi-unit or mixed-use buildings.

We also are capable of representing clients in Short Sales, Reverse Mortgages and Estate sales. These are handled with the same dedication and care as all other areas of real estate.

  • One of the most important decisions you can make in your lifetime is to protect you and your family in the event of your disability, incapacity or death. Most people, especially those in their 20’s & 30’s, are either too busy to plan for the future or feel that they have plenty of time to plan for the future “later”. This is a fallacy and could cause irreparable harm to you and your family. Our firm is experienced in estate planning and in providing legal advice to clients concerning their particular needs in preparing a Will, Power of Attorney or Living Will. We would strongly encourage everyone to have these documents prepared sooner than later, especially when you consider the cost of having them done vs the thousands of dollars it will cost you if you do not have them before problems arise.

The Will protects your family upon your death so that your assets can be distributed according to your wishes. More importantly, if you have minor children, you have the ability in your Will to appoint a Legal Guardian of your children and a Trustee to manage their assets according to your instructions. If you do not have a Will, it will cost thousands of dollars to have someone appointed by a Judge to carry out these responsibilities. Also, without a Will, family members could retain legal counsel to “contest” in a lawsuit who is the better relative to handle these responsibilities.

A Power of Attorney protects your family while you are alive. If you were seriously injured, or become incapacitated or disabled, and you are unable to take care of yourself and your family or your financial responsibilities, a Power of Attorney would protect you and your family without having to go to court to have someone appointed for you. Like having a Will, having a POA would avoid paying thousands of dollars or would avoid any legal contests between family members.

Finally, you may also consider having a Living Will (or Medical Directive/Proxy) prepared so that your personal decisions concerning any future medical care you may need are enforced according to your wishes.
